— A lifestyle —
"...Pura Vida Ecolodge - A lifestyle that may be hard to find, but it’s even harder to leave behind…”
Up at Pura Vida Ecolodge guests soon find out that organic is just as important as stylish as we endeavour to follow in Costa Rica’s green footsteps (they were recently titled ‘Champions of the Earth’ by the UN). Understanding that many of our guests want to leave the ‘brash & bling’ of hotels behind, we wanted to offer a Pura Vida Lifestyle that had something new and unique, a lifestyle that has a more personal, natural and understated approach – and everyone benefits.
Our ‘Pura Vida Lifestyle’ goal is to provide guests with an exclusive ocean view private retreat, located amongst a tropical jungle environment. Everything has been designed and created to harmonize our facilities with the surrounding natural beauty the Pura Vida Ecolodge reserve has to offer. Dawn is greeted by sounds of playful howler monkeys, toucans, parakeets and many more potential visitors to the Jungle vacation villa. All this only minutes from the charming villages of Ojochal & Coronado and some of the most pristine beaches in the world.
Less than 5% of the Pura Vida Ecolodge reserve is used for architectural structures, of which have the emphasis on natural & locally sourced materials, which have a minimum impact on the environment and really fit in with the lush surroundings. The combination of the location of the jungle villa and the abundant landscaping has been determined with your privacy in mind. This guarantees a beautiful and spacious setting for your entire stay.
‘Sleep on Nature’ by Cocomat
Both our Jungle & Ocean View Suites are kitted out with stylish eco-luxury Cocomat products - beds, mattresses, toppers and even an ever growing pillow menu! Guided by Mother Nature's wisdom, Cocomat have created some bespoke products made only of 100% natural materials. Our 'Sleep on Nature' beds are made of multiple layers of natural materials. The harder layers, such as coconut fibre, provide bodyweight support, while the more elastic layers of natural rubber follow the body's shape, gently hugging each curve. Our Cocomat products not only redefine eco-luxury but have essentially reinvented sleep for guests up at the lodge. Likewise, just as there is no 'one-size -fits-all' dress or pair of jeans, there can't be such a thing as a 'one-size-fits-all' pillow. Hence, Pura Vida Ecolodge very proudly presents the bespoke Pillow Menu by Cocomat. Guests can now choose from our exclusive collection of unique customisable pillows - Love Organic and Sleep Organic!

Massages, Therapy & Yoga…
“We are currently working closely with three very different massage therapists, intuitives & yoga and dance gurus…”
Firstly there is Japhet who is originally from the Caribbean side of Costa Rica but now lives in the area. She is qualified, very very good, with a beaming smile and has here own 4x4 transport and offers guests deep-tissue massages with a selection of organic essential oils in the comfort of the lodge on one of her massage beds. You can choose where she sets up the massage platform, but we suggest in the shade under the papaya trees on one of the decks by the jungle and plunge pool – the perfect holiday unwind treat. She offers both single person massages ($70) and couples massages for a 60-75 minute session (with one of her colleagues (for $140) Payment goes direct to her on the day and sessions need to be booked a few days in advance.
Next up is Akana Mandaté is a spiritual architect and intuitive who uses bodywork, bioenergetics, quantum science and art to help create experiences that inspire and balance the body, mind and spirit. Since he was a teenager, Akana has been fascinated with the construct of resonate truth, patterns, how imbalances are stored in the body and the consequences of them. Since then, he has extensively worked with and studied human behaviour, psychology, energy medicine, movement, sacred sensuality, creative expression and physical therapy. He has worked as a massage therapist for 15 years in the United States specializing in Trager, Swedish and deep tissue massage. Akana’s Integrative Full-Body Trager Massage: This unique full-body experience combines stretching, rocking, vibration, soft shaking, and Swedish massage to effectively work to the root of the muscles and connective tissue. It helps realign the skeletal structure, release tension stored deep in the body and reconnect the body and your breath. It will leave you with a feeling more lengthened, vibrant, connected, present and peaceful. As a gift, a brief intuitive reading is given at the end of every session. Please note: This is a clothed massage that is performed on the floor. Please wear a sports bra/loose fitting shirt, yoga pants, tights or shorts. 75 Minutes: $100 & 120 Minutes: $160
Last but not least there is Aliza. Aliza applies her training as a Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist, yoga instructor and lifelong dancer to create transformative movement experiences. Last year Aliza followed a soul call to Danyasa Eco-Retreat up the road in Dominical, trading the concrete jungle of New York City for the lush jungles of Costa Rica, where she now lives full time. Take some time to breathe deeply in a beautiful setting and connect to the wisdom of your body. Our yoga classes invite mindful movement with an emphasis on alignment. Postures are sequenced to enhance strength, flexibility, coordination, balance and creativity. Sessions are tailored to all levels, from first-timers to experienced yogis. Private Yoga Sessions (1-4 people) - $100 plus $25 per additional person.
Dance therapy sessions can also be arranged with individuals, couples or groups. No dance or movement experience is necessary. Founded on the idea that motion and emotion are connected, dance therapists guide each client toward authentic expression. Through movement and play, dance therapy supports you in releasing limiting beliefs, clarifying your desires and embodying new ways of being. Private Dance Therapy Sessions (1-4 people) - $100 plus $25 per additional person
Our almost zero KM coffee bar…
As the green season gets well under way in Costa Rica, we are proud to announce that we’ll be working with Coffea Diversa to provide guests up at Pura Vida Ecolodge with generous selection of our bespoke hand-picked organic coffee beans. What has almost recently become the protagonist of our open-plan kitchen area, the Pura Vida Coffee Corner, is stocked to the brim with a selection of organic and almost zero KM coffee beans, jars, grades and blends for guests to enjoy as they start their days up in the jungle retreat. Whether you like a strong espresso, a creamy cappucino, or a tico style ‘Costaricano’,
“we have everything from Italian Moka pots by Bialetti, glass and bamboo French-presses, pour overs and even a tico style coffee dripper,..”
…hand-crafted from some of our very own Guagua Bamboo. The organic blends come from the coffee plantations scattered in the lush hills of Fladas del Parque Nacional La Amistad in the small town of Biolley. Our partners Coffea Diversa even offer a wonderful day out, albeit quite a long drive from Pura Vida Ecolodge. This authentic and eye-opening experience offers guests the chance to see the world's largest private collection of coffee plants (with around 700 botanical varieties of coffee. The tour includes walking round the seemingly endless plantations seeing the differences between the varieties being cultivated, learning how to make a coffee seedling, picking and harvesting coffee, seeing how coffee is processed, dried, stored and picked and enjoying the lovely aromas and tastes as you learn on site how coffee is roasted and you discover the many different ways of brewing.
