Our open-plan kitchen comes with a very well stocked 'Pura Vida Pantry'. Full of all sorts of locally sourced organic goodies including a generous basket of locally sourced Tropical Fruits, freshly plucked & chilled coconuts, an extensive Coffee Menu, Ceremonial Cacao, Home-made Oat or Coconut Milk, Coconut oil, Jungle Honey, Overnight Oats, Superfood Seed Mix, Herbs & Spices plus all the local staples such as lentils, rice, beans, chickpeas and other Tico Treats. In keeping with our ‘green living’ philosophy, all goodies come from a carefully curated selection of local Costa Rican farms.

Pura Vida Rewilding Adventure through mangroves to Playa Garza

Experience the wild heart of La Zona Sur on an exclusive, three-hour botecito (small boat) adventure with our friend, Capi. Limited to six guests, this unique tour ventures through the mangroves to a dramatic opening at Rio Terraba. Your destination: Playa Garza, a secluded gem of volcanic sands named for its nesting birds. Enjoy the landscapes and nature, complete with fresh juices (frescos), coffee, fruit, and homemade vegetarian empanadas. Departure depends on tide times.

Home-cooked plant-based welcome meal

A brilliant treat for your arrival after a day’s travel, when you don’t fancy cooking or eating out , we will arrange for tasty home-cooked meals (by our budding chef friends Yorly & Ili) to be delivered up to the lodge to enjoy hopefully with a killer sunset down in the Alfresco Lounge. In keeping with our green-living ethos, we specialise in both plant-based & vegetarian meals and all dishes are made with locally sourced ingredients that are in season.

Visit to The Costa Rica Coral Restoration Project

Founded in 2019, this non-profit environmental organization is actively restoring and repopulating coral at Marino Ballena National Park. Their fantastic work includes building coral nurseries, artificial reefs, and fragmentation tanks to achieve successful coral out-planting. The experience to Costa Rica Coral Restoration includes an educational presentation and a complimentary park visit, giving you vital insight into the urgent importance of coral reef protection.

Couple’s Massage & Holistic treatment

We are lucky enough to work closely with one of the best therapists in the country! Introducing Japhet, originally from the Caribbean side of Costa Rica but now just up the road in Dominical. She is highly qualified and very good. Included in the package are her deep-tissue massages with a selection of organic essential oils in the comfort of the lodge on one of her massage beds. Guests can choose where she sets up the massage platform, but we suggest in the shade of the bamboo on the pool deck overlooking the jungle or down in the Alfresco Lounge with the Ocean breeze – the perfect unwind treat. She also includes some really nice facials, body scrubs & wraps with a choice of organic coffee, chocolate & coconut or Green Tea & Apricot Seeds.

Osa Canopy Tour Experience

This is the oppurtunity to leave your comfort zone behind and swing through the jungle with the monkeys! The Osa Canopy Tour is around a 30-minute drive from Pura Vida Ecolodge and one of the best zip-lining options in the entire country. It boasts 7 cables, 13 platforms, 3 rappelling stations and 2 suspension bridges and can be arranged as either a morning or afternoon activity. (Typically lasting 3-4 hours with all transportation from the centre included).

Surf Experience At Marino Ballena national Park

Sometimes it takes falling off your board to fall in love with the ocean right! Included in the package is a 2-hour group surf clinic and body surfing lesson to awaken your inner surfer while learning about the environment, engaging with the community, and having lots of fun! These group lessons are arranged with our friends at Bodhi Surf & Yoga, (a fellow 1 Percent for the Planet & B-Corp Certified Member) perfect for families, groups of friends and couples who only have a few hours to dedicate to surfing during their vacation. Group surf lessons are two hours long. focus on teaching our guests to surf safely in a beautiful natural classroom and include water, entrance to the National Park, rash guard & surf equipment.

CHASING WATERFALLS EXPERIENCE

This rewilding experience is guided by Juan Carlos or Iliana, departing from the Tres Rios bridge on foot allows guests to discover some of the gems on our doorstep that just the locals know about! A private morning adventure including tasty homemade snacks & drinks. Don’t forget to pack your sense of adventure and good boots or shoes for getting off the beaten track.
